Tour Overview

This seven-day, six-night journey has been crafted for travellers who want to experience both Kenya’s most celebrated safari landscape and its palm-fringed coastline in a single, seamless itinerary. By combining the Masai Mara with Diani Beach on an all-inclusive basis, you enjoy the drama of big wildlife encounters and the restorative calm of the Indian Ocean, with every key element of logistics, guiding and comfort thoughtfully handled by Expera Adventures.

Your adventure begins with a road transfer in Nairobi and a short overnight stay or immediate connection, depending on your arrival time. You fly from Wilson Airport to an airstrip in the greater Masai Mara ecosystem, where your guide and private 4x4 vehicle await. The next three days are devoted to exploring the Mara’s open plains, riverine forests and rolling hills, seeking out elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes and, in season, the Great Migration herds that sweep across the savannah. Rather than a checklist approach, your guide invites you into the stories of the landscape – how predators establish territories, how seasonal rains shape animal movements, and how local communities and conservancies are working together to protect this globally important ecosystem.

You stay in a premium tented camp that blends comfort with low-impact design. Spacious tents are equipped with proper beds, quality linen and en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, while open-sided common areas overlook grazing grounds where wildlife passes by throughout the day. Solar power, careful water use and waste management are key parts of camp operations, helping ensure that the benefits of tourism are not undermined by its footprint. Game drives take place early in the morning and late in the afternoon, when light is soft and animals are most active, with the middle of the day left free for rest, informal natural history talks, or quiet reading on your deck.

After your final sunrise game drive and breakfast in the Mara, you board a flight back to Nairobi, connecting onward to the coast. A second short flight delivers you to Ukunda Airstrip, gateway to Diani Beach, where palms, white sand and the turquoise Indian Ocean introduce a very different rhythm. A private transfer brings you to an all-inclusive beachfront resort selected for its service quality, beach access and commitment to responsible practices such as reduced plastic use, local staffing and support for nearby community initiatives. Here, your days are intentionally unstructured. You can swim in the ocean or pool, walk along the beach, join non-motorised water activities like kayaking or stand-up paddling, or simply unwind under the shade with a book.

The all-inclusive format at the coast takes the stress out of day-to-day decisions. Your accommodation, meals, most drinks, selected activities and evening entertainment are covered, so you can focus on enjoying the surroundings. Chefs prepare buffet and à la carte options that highlight both international and Kenyan flavours, and staff can accommodate dietary requirements with advance notice. If you are curious to understand more about life along the South Coast, we can arrange optional visits to local markets, marine conservation projects or cultural experiences, ensuring that your time at the beach connects you with the wider area rather than isolating you from it.

Across the week, logistics are designed to be smooth and practical. Domestic flights link Nairobi, the Mara and Diani efficiently, private transfers ensure you are not waiting in long queues, and our team monitors schedules and conditions on your behalf. Behind the scenes, we work with trusted partners who share our focus on safety, service and conservation, from pilots and guides to hoteliers and community organisations. Your travel days are kept as light as possible, giving you more hours in the places you came to experience.

This Mara and Diani All-Inclusive Escape is ideal for couples, small families or friends seeking a premium yet accessible Kenyan experience that balances adventure and relaxation. It can be a stand-alone holiday or the central section of a longer East African journey. As with all Expera Adventures itineraries, the package is customisable: we can add extra nights in the Mara or on the coast, adjust accommodation to suit your preferences, and incorporate special interests such as photography, birding or wellness into the daily flow. The core design, however, remains the same – a thoughtful, conservation-aware safari followed by restorative coastal time, both delivered with high-touch service and transparent inclusions.

Frequently Asked Questions

This itinerary works well year-round. July to October is popular for the Great Migration in the Mara, while December to March can bring clear coastal conditions and warm seas. Shoulder months such as June and November often offer good value and fewer crowds. We recommend balancing your wildlife and beach priorities when choosing dates.

The Diani stay includes accommodation, most meals, selected drinks and certain non-motorised activities as part of the resort’s all-inclusive plan. You should still budget extra for premium beverages, motorised water sports, off-site excursions, spa treatments and gratuities. We can provide a clearer breakdown for your chosen resort at booking.

Yes, the combination of Mara safari and beach time is appealing to many families. Children typically enjoy the variety of wildlife viewing and the chance to play at the beach. We recommend private vehicle use in the Mara for families, and can choose family-friendly room configurations and resorts. Very young children may need flexible schedules, which we can plan for.

The itinerary is rated easy and does not require special fitness. Game drives are vehicle-based, with only short walks around camps and lodges. At the coast, activities such as swimming and gentle water sports are optional. Guests with mobility considerations should inform us so we can select appropriate rooms and plan transfers accordingly.

We partner with conservancy-supporting camps in the Mara and resorts that demonstrate responsible practices on the coast. Your stay contributes to land lease payments, local employment and community initiatives. We encourage guests to learn about these projects on site and can facilitate visits where appropriate and desired.

Yes, this package is fully customisable. Many guests choose to add one or two nights in the Mara for additional game viewing or extend their stay at Diani to maximise relaxation. We can also adjust accommodation categories and special interest activities to match your preferences and budget.

We recommend a mix of neutral safari clothing, a warm layer for cool Mara mornings, comfortable closed shoes, and light beachwear and swimwear for Diani. A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellent are essential for both regions. Soft-sided luggage is best for domestic flights, and laundry services in the Mara help you travel with fewer items.

Cancellation terms vary by season and by the specific camps and resorts used, with stricter policies often applying in peak migration and festive periods. In general, charges increase as you get closer to the travel date. We will provide clear, written terms at the proposal stage and recommend comprehensive travel insurance to cover unforeseen changes.

Early morning often brings heightened activity, with predators finishing hunts and herbivores moving to grazing areas. Your guide focuses on tracking lions, cheetahs or leopards while also highlighting smaller species and birdlife that bring the ecosystem to life. You return to camp for a substantial breakfast and time to rest, read or simply watch wildlife from your tent’s veranda.

The middle of the day is intentionally slow, allowing you to enjoy camp, speak with staff about conservation and community partnerships, or join a short escorted walk within the camp’s vicinity if offered. In the late afternoon, you head out again, exploring different areas of the reserve or conservancy based on conditions and your interests. The drive continues into sunset, with opportunities for photography and quiet observation. After dark, you return to camp for dinner and conversation, reflecting on the day’s sightings and what they reveal about life in the Mara.

Returning to camp for a late breakfast or brunch, you have the middle of the day free for rest or deeper conversations about conservation.

If you are interested, we can arrange a responsible visit to a nearby community or conservancy office, subject to availability, where you may learn more about how tourism revenue supports local livelihoods and wildlife protection. In the afternoon, you head out on your final Mara game drive of the trip, giving you another chance to revisit favourite scenes or explore new territory.
