Your safari begins this morning at Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, where you check in for your scheduled light aircraft flight to the Maasai Mara. The flight usually takes around 45 minutes, with sweeping views of the Great Rift Valley and patchwork farmland below. On landing at your Mara bush airstrip, your Expera driver-guide will be waiting to welcome you and load your soft bags into a custom 4x4 safari vehicle.

The drive from the airstrip to camp is treated as a full game drive, so from your first hour in the Mara you may encounter giraffes browsing acacia trees, elephants crossing open plains and, with luck, big cats resting in the shade. On arrival at camp, you are greeted with a cool drink and a brief orientation before settling into your tent or suite overlooking the savannah. Full day of game viewing in the Mara ecosystem

Wake before dawn for tea or coffee and a light bite before setting out on your early morning game drive, the most active time for many predators. You may search for lions returning from a night hunt, cheetahs scanning the plains, or hyenas calling in the half-light. Your guide will position the vehicle for the best light and viewing angles, with an eye for responsible distances and minimal disturbance to the animals. Depending on conditions and your preferences, you can enjoy a bush breakfast out in the field, or return to camp mid-morning for a cooked breakfast.

The middle of the day is left free to rest, review photos, visit the camp pool, or sit on your veranda watching wildlife wander by. After lunch, there is time to learn more about the conservancy model and the local Maasai communities if you wish. Later in the afternoon, you head out again, exploring a different area of the conservancy or, if prearranged, venturing into the main Maasai Mara National Reserve. As the temperature cools, animals become active once more and you may witness dramatic interactions on the plains. Return to camp after dark for dinner and perhaps a nightcap around the fire before retiring to the sounds of the African night.

Final sunrise safari and flight back to Nairobi

On your final morning, you may choose another early game drive to savour the sunrise and seek out any species you have not yet seen, or enjoy a slower start with breakfast at camp followed by a shorter drive. This last outing is often wonderfully calm, with soft light over the plains and time to appreciate the details of the landscape as well as its wildlife. After returning to camp, you pack and check out, taking a moment for farewell photographs with your guiding team.

You are then transferred back to the airstrip, again treating the journey as an opportunity for final sightings and memories. At the airstrip, your guide will assist with check-in for your flight to Nairobi. The flight typically arrives back at Wilson Airport in the early to mid-afternoon, leaving you enough time to connect with an international departure or transfer to your city hotel.
