Cancellation Policy

Travel Insurance Recommended

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation to protect your investment.

Standard Cancellation Terms

All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to [email protected]. The cancellation date is the date we receive your written notice.

Special Circumstances

Peak Season Bookings

For bookings during peak season (July-October, December-January), stricter cancellation terms may apply. You will be notified of any special terms at the time of booking.

Group Bookings

For group bookings of 6 or more persons, a custom cancellation policy may be agreed upon at the time of booking.

Gorilla Trekking Permits

Gorilla trekking permits are non-refundable once purchased. If you cancel or cannot participate, you forfeit the permit cost. In some cases, permits may be rescheduled for a fee (subject to availability).

Cancellation by Expera Adventures

In rare circumstances, we may need to cancel a safari due to:

  • Safety concerns (civil unrest, natural disasters)
  • Government travel advisories
  • Minimum group size not met (for group departures)

In such cases, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule your safari at no additional cost.

Changes to Your Booking

If you wish to change your travel dates (not cancel):

  • A $50 amendment fee applies per change
  • Changes are subject to availability
  • Price differences between dates may apply
  • Changes must be requested at least 30 days before original travel date

Refund Processing

Approved refunds are processed within 14 business days of cancellation confirmation. Refunds are returned via the original payment method. Bank transfer refunds may take up to 10 additional business days to appear in your account.

Force Majeure

We are not liable for cancellations or changes due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, war, strikes, or government actions. In such cases, we will work with you to reschedule or provide credit for future travel.
